Another one that is somewhat easy if your a beginner is called Ubuntu linux, they have a live cd and an install cd.
Seems like they have a good forum and a good starter guide.
They will even ship official cd's to you for free...

Just look up ubuntu in google and you will find it easily enough.
I'm testing it on another hard drive but really haven't had as much time to play with it as I would like.
