hello from fedora core 4 ![]() True that's simple to install , but maybe to simple if you want to understand how is working linux .. ![]()
| |||
mh sure but if you want to install gentoo you must print the handbook first because you don't have a gui like @fedora core and you have to compill it @fedora it's always compilled but @gentoo it takes round about 9 hours to install it ![]()

whax 3.0 is an easy to you live distro, based on slackware. i think its a good choice if you take whax to have a look at linux. you can install whax to hd too. many sploits and pentest tools are included.

Fedora may be a bit too noobish so that's not the best distro to understand linux as u said. Ubuntu is nice, and even i that got 0 experience must admit that it's not really difficult. I've also tried slackware but i have to admit that i like ubuntu more ... Best way is to try different distributions to see which one suits u best

Nice to see there are other people around using that live distro. It's very good for pen-testing and it's stable enough to be loved. Redhat is quite shitty and should be consider for beginners. Suse sucks according to my tastes. Debian is a good distro, it is just not often updated (just think the Sarge version was 3 years old when they released the new version. slackware is definitively a good, well balanced distro... though not for beginners. FreeBSD is still the best choice ever but....it's NOT Linux!!! Make your choice class! ![]() Yog-Sotho
