sandboxing is a general term usually referring to isolation testing something.

what i mean by that is,say u have a virii,or rootkit.

you dont know what this virii or rootkit does,so you would run/dissassemble it on a computer that is standalone,where it wouldnt affect any others,isolated.sandboxed.

testing in an isolated environment.

ignore this dribble if you are referring to something else,this is just my understandings of sandbox/ing/ed

norman sandbox

Some examples of this sandbox technology can be found at http://sandbox.norman.no/ where you can upload suspicious files and it provides a summary of the file. Another site for detecing suspicious files is virustotal.com
