this DoS stuff is nothing new. The script and program in question can be easily changed to do the same thing to vB, IPB, Google, Yahoo, etc. All it does is make tons of requests. It is simply FUD, Fear Uncertainty, and Doubt to scare people. However, there are things your webhost can do to minimize the risk of a DoS. There are Apache modules for example that mitigate the effects of a DoS. Enabling the Visual Confirmation will stop the mass registration by the way.
